Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) - Ilona Andrews 4.5...excellent pacing, action, mystery, romance, humor, blood, gore! Oh, happy days!

Andrea Nash has been my favorite character in the Kate Daniel series since her novella "Magic Mourns," which kick-started her romance with Raphael and revealed the abuse she suffered at the hands of a cruel bouda clan. Andrea had issues that she finally confronts in Gunmetal Magic.

Not only is there a resolution to Andrea's distrust of the Pack, there's an intriguing case of murdered shifters to solve, which involves battling terrible beasts. Plus, the issues between Andrea and Raphael are handled very well, which I had worried about after reading snippets on the authors' website. Roman, Ascancio, and Barrabas were entertaining secondary characters. I loved the insights given into Roman and Ascancio's characters.

The story lost a little of its mojo near the end. Like one other reviewer said there was a 'weird' shift in the plot. It did match the feel of the rest of the book and didn't seem set up well. Gunmetal Magic/i> is still a terrific story!. Even though there is a clear resolution for Andrea, I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will other stories for this smart kickbutt heroine! Especially her future in Aunt B's Bouda Clan
