The Seduction of Elliot McBride - Jennifer Ashley Grade: C- ...Meh. I'm just not into you.

A tale of a tortured hero marrying his secret childhood sweetheart. She loves him, too. This is at the beginning of the book. Where's the conflict?

Elliot has moments of insanity. (He relives his captivity and torture.) Juliana is understanding and comforts him. Where's the conflict? A mysterious 'watcher' enters the picture. Tension! Finally!

The story is romantic, but the backstory wasn't make a whole lot of sense to me. She's his great love and vice verso, so why didn't they get engaged a long time ago. This may be a case of "it's not you, it's me."

I struggled reading this romance. Luckily, I borrowed it from the library. The excerpt to Daniel Mackenzie's book was a nice bonus. It appears 24 year old Daniel will fall in love with a 30 year old fake fortune teller. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. At least the novella after this story is getting good reviews.
